The Phantom

Erik was a horribly disfigured musical genius who spent his life living under the Opera Garnier in Paris. He had to live in the shadows because of his appearance, and when he did leave the comforts of his underground home, he wore a mask.

During his time in isolation he came across a young singer named Christina Daae. She was a gifted singer and he decided to give her voice lessons in secret. Because of his disfigurement, he never let Christina see him and because of this she thought of him as her angel.

The Phantom

After Christine won the role of leading soprano, she was grateful to Erik for the lessons and accepted an invitation to his home under the Opera House. She was uneasy around Erik, but he hoped that she would love him and save him from his loneliness.

He confessed his love for her and asked her to be his. Erik then told Christine to sing once more and then come back to him with her decision.

Not long after their conversation Erik discovered that she has planned to run off with her lover Raoul. Feeling betrayed after everything he has done to help Christina, Erik seeks her out to find out why she lied to him. He did everything he could to get her back, but in the end he had to let her go.
