Doug Bradley was born in Liverpool, in 1954. He met Clive Barker
in high school and they founded the Dog Company in the late
seventies, touring with theatre shows including ‘History
of the Devil’. His film career began with the short films
‘Salome’ and ‘The Forbidden’- both films
are compelling insights into Doug's future work and into the
talent that would break out in the 1987 horror masterpiece ‘Hellraiser’
Doug Bradley took the role of ‘Pinhead’, the film’s
universally recognized Cenobite. The film was directed by Clive
Barker and adapted from his novella ‘The Hellbound Heart’.
Doug has continued to play ‘Pinhead’ through the
years in a series of successful Hellraiser movies (the latest
installments ‘Deader’ and ‘Hellworld’
are due for release in 2004), transforming the anti-hero into
a cult figure and also into one of the most recognizable characters
in contemporary horror cinema.
As well as the Hellraiser series, Doug has starred in Clive
Barker's ‘Nightbreed’, alongside his friend Robert
Englund (Freddy from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’)
in ‘The Killer Tongue’, and recently appeared in
two award-winning short horror films ‘On Edge’ and
‘Red Lines’. Doug also voiced and Executive Produced
the anime feature ‘Dominator’. Other film and TV
appearances include ‘Inspector Morse’ and the forthcoming
‘Prophecy: Revelation’.
