Francesco Dellamorte is the live-in watchman at the Buffalora
Cemetery in northern Italy. He has only the clumsy and deformed
Gnaghi for company
and he prefers it that way. He often says that he doesn't
have time for the living and considering all that his job
requires of him, he's right.
He is caretaker of the
cemetery and in charge of burials. The job isn't that bad and he was happy with the way things were.
His life was disrupted by a woman, a widow who
visits her husbands grave daily. They fall fast for each but their love will end all too soon.
After seeing look-alike's of his beloved all over town he decided it was time to leave. Unfortunately, he could not
and so he returned to his home in Buffalora Cemetery with Gnaghi
and continued to care for the dead.
