Jason's mother worked at Camp Crystal Lake and would take Jason to work with her. He was horribly disfigured and the other campers constantly teased him. It was at this camp in the year 1957 when Jason was thought to have drowned in the lake. The counselors were not paying close enough attention to poor little Jason. His body was never found and his mother went crazy over the death of her little boy.

Mrs. Voorhees blamed the counselors for her sons death and took revenge the camp and it was closed two years later. Convinced that the careless counselors were responsible, Mrs. Voorhees tried to keep the camp closed permanently. The camp re-opened a few years later and Mrs. Voorhees tried to prevent it, but she couldn't and died shortly after.

Jason was hiding in the woods at Crystal Lake and heard of his mother's death. He decided to continue what his mother started, he was going to keep Camp Crystal Lake from ever opening again.

He was pretty persuasive over the years, but people kept trying to open the camp anyway. Some tried even to drive Jason away, but he was pretty stubborn and the camp never officially re-opened.

Jason only wanted to honor his beloved mother, and keeping the camp closed was the only way he knew how. People would still comment about his disfigured face so eventually he covered his face with a hockey mask that he continues to wear.

"What started out as revenge has become a legacy in terror."

"But... then he's still out there."
