Jigsaw
Jonathan Kramer was a very intelligent man who valued life and hated to watch others take their lives for granted. After he was diagnosed with cancer he decided to try to help people see how they were wasting their precious lives.
He decided to help certain people by creating games or puzzles for them to solve that would teach them the value of their lives. The games are physical representations of the problems that the chosen people have in their lives.
The police didn't appreciate what John was trying to do. They dubbed him "Jigsaw" because of the highly intelligent and complicated puzzles he put people through. They tried to stop him many times, but John would just show certain detectives how they were wasting their lives. He was able to continue in this manner for quite some time.
Very few people learned the lessons John set up for them. One person did and went on to help John teach others. Amanda was a good student and wanted to continue John's work after he was gone. He tried to teach her everything he knew and then gave her one final lesson.
All he wanted was for people to not take their lives for granted. He didn't waste his life and the last few days he had were precious. He just wanted other people to understand that and live their lives to the fullest. A few others follow John's beliefs and will continue to teach his lessons.
"Those who do not appreciate life do not deserve life."
