Lionel Cosgrove

Lionel led a simple, quiet, and secluded life with his mother. He grew up believing that he was only person a boy needs is his mum and he was content to live out the rest of his life this way. He was very shy, and tried to avoid confrontation or contact with people as often as he could. Until he met Paquita.

He took her to the zoo and they had a lovely time. That is until his mother (having followed them) was bitten by the legendary rat-monkey. Lionel immediately took his mum home to get medical attention.

His poor mum contracted some type of virus from the monkey bite, and she infected everyone she came in contact with starting with her nurse. Lionel dutifully took care of his mum, and feeling responsible, for Nurse McTavish as well.

His mum infected the priest at the cemetery and a biker who was visiting. Lionel didn't want the rest of the town to find out it was him mum infected everyone, so he took them all home to try to take care of them. There was even an infected baby. All he ever knew how to do was look after her and she was getting worse.

Lionel's Uncle Les found out about her and tried to convince Lionel to give the house to him. Lionel was never very good at confrontation and he didn't know what to do. Les took advantage of him and threw a party in celebration. He told Lionel to go take care of his mum. Paquita came by to comfort Lionel and tried to help.

Lionel tried to give his mum and the others something to help them sleep, but he mistakenly gave them a stimulant. They mingled into the party and eventually all of the guests became infected. All except Lionel and Paquita.

Lionel knew he had to do something because he couldn't take care of all them. He tried to get the guests to leave, but they didn't want to go. Lionel finally had enough and was determined to make them all leave.

Seeing his nephew stand up for himself, Les helped make the guests leave as well. Eventually all the guests were gone and Lionel was left with Paquita and his mum. He knew he couldn't take care of her anymore and he had to stand up to her. He was scared, but eventually he made her realize that he needed a life of his own.
