The Umbrella Corporation

Founded by Sir Ozwell E. Spencer in the 1960's, the Umbrella Corporation is the world's leading supplier of pharmaceuticals, medical hardware, cosmetics, and computer technology.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the Umbrella Corporation had become the largest commercial entity in the United States. Nine out of ten homes contained it's products. Its political and financial influences were felt everywhere.

In 2002 a group of environmentalists were out to destroy Umbrella with vicious lies about secret experiments and military weaponry. They caused the destruction of Raccoon City and tried to lay blame on the Corporation.

The economy of the city is largely dominated by the Umbrella Corporation, which generously financed most of the city's projects. Thirty percent of the citizens are employed by the international corporation. Umbrella would not willingly destroy one of its most successfull investments. It is believed that the group of environmentalists targeted Raccoon City because of its large financial ties to Umbrella. They sought to ruin the Corporation in any way they could and they almost succeeded.
