Djinn

The Wishmaster was a Djinn, or genie, who could grant wishes, and was imprisoned in a jewel, a fire opal, in the year 1127 A.D. by a Persian sorcerer. The opal was sealed inside a statue and the Wishmaster trapped inside for years.

He was finally released by a young woman, Alex, on accident in present day New York. He tried to thank her by offering to grant her 3 wishes, but she was hesitant to accept his offer. He could grant anyone anything they wished for, but she was the only one allowed 3 wishes, so while he waited for her to decide on her wishes he went around the city granting wishes for others. He enjoyed his work and tried to help as many people as he could.

Alex, however, did not want her wishes. The Wishmaster tried to get her to make them as best he could, but she was very insistent. She eventually made 2 wishes, but refused to make a third. Wanting to understand why, he followed her to a party where he was able to grant the host an unforgettable evening.

Still, he wanted to give Alex her wishes as a thank you for freeing him and finally caught up with her. He persuaded her to make her last wish so that he might be free to grant another person 3 wishes.
